Owen-Withee School Board Reviews Facilities Projects

Thursday, June 16th, 2016 -- 8:40 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board discussed several different projects regarding their strategic planning for the district.

They continued their discussion of the implementation for the Facilities Study Audit and projects that have been completed. In the gym, the old bleachers have been removed and the edges of the gym have been sanded and finished. The new bleachers will be installed the week of June 27 with completion by July 1. The rest of the gym floor will be sanded, painted and finished the week after the 4th of July. Another project identified as a potential for leaks and brick damage was completed in early June. Work around the building included removing cracked mortar and replacement, caulking around windows and joints and general brick and masonry work.

Also the handicapped accessibility door opener for the main high school doors has been installed. The door opener at the gym lobby has been repaired and updated. They’re continuing to look at options for the improved shop lighting and are looking at 106 watt LED lights that will create the 60-70 foot candles they’re looking for. Finally, the new playground equipment has arrived and will be installed over the summer. Due to donations from Time Federal Savings and Forward Financial, along with the proceeds from an elementary bake sale and a small contribution from the District, an additional piece of equipment has been able to be purchased.
