University of Wisconsin System Regents Considering Raising Application Fees

Wednesday, June 8th, 2016 -- 9:19 AM

(AP) -University of Wisconsin System regents are considering raising application fees.

System officials have proposed raising UW-Madison's undergraduate application fee from $50 to $60. They say the additional $10 will help cover the cost of using the Common Application, which allows students to complete a single application for multiple universities.

Application fees for UW-Madison graduate students would go from $56 to $75 and for the law, medical, veterinary and pharmacy schools application fees would increase between $16 and $19. The proposal also calls for raising the other UW schools' fees from $44 to $50. System officials say the additional money will cover rising processing costs. The regents' finance committee is set to vote on the increases Thursday. If approved, the full Board of Regents will vote on the proposal Friday.
