Granton Dairy Breakfast is a Special One for FFA Advisor
Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 -- 11:30 AM
-The Granton Dairy Breakfast was held on Sunday and it was a special one for retiring Ag Teacher and FFA Advisor Cheryl Steinbach.Even though Sunday’s breakfast was her last as a teacher at Granton, Cheryl intends to stick around and help out.
"I'm a lifetime member. I've been ever since I was in high school and I plan to stick around and help out anyway that I can."
The FFA helps out many high school students with scholarships and they’re always looking for donations to fund those scholarships.
"We have a donation drawing table that we ask if people want a chance to support the program and there are contributions from many different businesses and people can support that. We gave out 5 different scholarships this year at graduation for 5 graduating seniors."
Finally, Cheryl talked about the upcoming State FFA Convention.
"We are really excited for State Convention. We got a team as one of the state finalists for Parliamentary Procedure. We have Brandon Anding who's getting the State Proficiency Award in Ag Mechanics. We've got 7 State FFA Degree recipients, 8 State Gold Proficiency Ratings, and we also have some Jr/Sr. Opening Ceremony contests going on. Plus, I'm sure I'm forgetting some because my head's spinning right now! But we're focusing on a great convention."
Coming up on Wednesday, we’ll hear from Granton’s new Ag/FFA Advisor, Katie Chapman.
