Case Dismissed Against Man Arrested for Possession in Black River Falls

Tuesday, June 7th, 2016 -- 9:20 AM

-A man arrested in December of last year and charged with possession had the case against him dismissed on Monday in Jackson County Court.

Back in December, the Black River Falls Police Department arrested two men connected with an incident at a Holiday gas station. Authorities received reports of two men displaying a handgun inside a vehicle at the gas pumps of the Holiday station. Officers arrived to try and speak with the men, but they fled the scene and a pursuit occurred on Highway 27.

After several pursuits, authorities were able to arrest Peter Bennet and Kyle Field the next day. Field had a charge of possession dismissed during a motion hearing on Monday because his lawyer stated that due to state statute an individual cannot be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia if the substance is in a syringe. The judge agreed and the case was dismissed, but it was stated that a new case would be filed. Bennett will be back in court in August.
