Fairchild Man Sentenced for Misconduct in Office

-A Fairchild man charged with misconduct in office was sentenced for the incident in Jackson County Court.Phillip Hazard, who served as town clerk for the Town of Cleveland in Jackson County, is accused of calling his home a polling place during the 2015 spring election. Hazard was running for a supervisor position and the criminal complaint says there were biased results during the election. Hazard was charged with fail to properly identify sponsor of political communication and two counts of misconduct in office. The two misconduct charges were dismissed back in March after a judge determined that the state failed to prove probable cause.
Hazard was found guilty, due to a no contest plea, of the last charge, which is just a forfeiture. Hazard was sentenced to a fine of $263.50.
