Reports at Neillsville City Council Meeting

Thursday, June 2nd, 2016 -- 9:37 AM

-The Neillsville City Council heard several reports at their meeting on Tuesday of last week.

For the Public Works report, the usual amount of work was done in the city including parks and cemetery maintenance, equipment maintenance, trimming and pruning trees, hauling brush and compost, mowing, street sweeping and more. They also replaced a manhole on N. Huron Street, reconstructed some road base in the cemetery, did training on the new tar kettle, and more. The Director of Public Works also wanted to remind residents to not blow their grass from mowing into the streets. It causes storm drains to plug up which costs the department a lot of time to clean out.

The council also heard reports from the Historic Preservation Commission. The first was from a meeting on May 16th in which they approved 2,000 copies of the Historic Architectural Brochure as long as there wasn’t 8 hours of layout time because then it would cost more. They held another meeting on May 19th to rescind that motion because the cost was going to be more. They made a new motion to go to the printers and try and get the best locked in price not to exceed $3,000. They also accepted the resignation of a commission member which was sent to the Common Council.
