Granton School Board Discusses Spring Sports Co-op with Community, Final
Wednesday, June 1st, 2016 -- 9:54 AM
-The Granton School Board approved one of the spring sports co-ops with the School District of Neillsville at a Special Board meeting held on Wednesday evening. The Granton School Board held an open forum allowing community members to come and talk about their thoughts and concerns in regards to the co-op. One resident said that parents need to do more to make co-ops work no matter who it’s with and communication has to come from both sides. They went on to say that even though there may be hard feelings between both sides, they need to work together and play nice to benefit the students. Another resident said they would like to see Neillsville work with them more on many items.
Some final items brought up included a question on travel. It was established that the Granton District would provide travel to practices and games, but parents would be responsible for getting their child back from a game. Another parent worried that if their children go out for sports while in a co-op with Neillsville, they’ll just end up sitting on the bench. In the end, the Granton School Board approved to co-op their softball team with Neillsville, but they decided to leave their golf and baseball teams separate. At a recent Neillsville School Board meeting, they approved to co-op all three sports.
