Memorial Medical Center Foundation's Donor Breakfast, Part 1

Friday, May 20th, 2016 -- 11:44 AM

-The Memorial Medical Center Foundation held their Donor Breakfast at the Neillsville American Legion Thursday morning.

Those in attendance got to enjoy a delicious meal and hear about some of the items their donations have helped bring to Memorial Medical Center the past year. They also saw a very emotional video about two families that received care at the facility.

At the end of the meal, I spoke with Shelly Janke and she told me when the Memorial Medical Center Foundation was formed.

"We have been in existence since 2011. That's when the IRS gave us the blessing to be a 501(c)3, so since the end of 2011."

The MMC Foundation has already raised an astounding amount of money in the short time it’s been around.

"We've raised just a little under a half a million dollars. We'll actually hit the half million dollar mark by the end of this year. And all the contributions that we've raised have gone right back into the medical center to make improvements."

The foundation has provided funding for many projects.

"We've provided funding, most recently, for the new renovation of the clinics that's going to take place this year. We've provided funding for a lot of equipment including portable x-rays, new EKG machines, we did all of the trauma beds for our ER a few years ago. In total, there's a list of about 35 items that we've been able to fund over the past several years."

Coming up on Monday, we’ll hear about a new program the foundation is doing.
