Owen's Curb Appeal Contest Looking Good

-The Owen Downtown Revitalization Committee met recently to talk about different events and programs to bring more people to the City of Owen.The committee had no new information on Main Street Banners, but the idea will be brought up to the Owen-Withee Area Chamber of Commerce about “Welcome Alumni” banners to be placed on the chamber signs as you enter Owen and Withee. The Curb Appeal contest is looking good. The City has agreed to donate $150, as has the Chamber of Commerce and the O-W Lions. It was mentioned that this contest has to be made known to all residents and should be included in the water bills if possible.
The idea was discussed about holding a Battle of the Bands on August 19th, the day before the Car Show. Some feelers have been put out on Facebook and a couple of bands are interested. The committee liked the idea for the most part, but there were concerns that people might not come two days in a row. It was decided that the committee should wait until they have more interest to decide and that the bars need to be involved.
