Bicyclist Collides with Dump Truck in Marshfield

Friday, May 13th, 2016 -- 12:43 PM

(Marshfield News Herald) -A bicyclist was hospitalized Thursday morning after colliding with a dump truck on Marshfield’s southeast side.

Police were called just before 9 a.m. on Thursday to a report of a traffic crash involving a bicyclist and a dump truck at the intersection of East 29th Street and East Veterans Parkway, according to Patrol Sergeant Dennis Keffer of the Marshfield Police Department. It was not immediately clear how the incident occurred, but police believe the dump truck was turning right onto 29th Street from Veterans when it made contact with the bicyclist.

The bicyclist, a 56-year-old woman who lives near Marshfield, was brought by ambulance to Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital. She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Keffer said. A bicycle on the ground near the intersection could be seen shortly after the accident; the bike's rear tire was bent. Keffer said police would continue to investigate the incident and determine whether the dump truck driver or the bicyclist would receive traffic tickets.
