Facilities Audit and Projects at Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

Friday, May 13th, 2016 -- 8:11 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board discussed the facilities audit and projects at their meeting on Monday.

The board continued their discussion of the items on the Facilities Audit. Discussion regarding the lights in the shop going back on the list of Act 32 projects, or Energy Savings, occurred because the ballasts in the current lights would have to be replaced to accommodate the new LED bulbs. The board reviewed a timeline for the Act 32 projects and how to proceed with getting the tax levy in place. A Qualified Provider is required to oversee all Act 32 projects. CESA 10 will help them to hire this provider in late May. The provider will spend June and July reviewing their projects and coming up with bids for the projects.

August will be used to run a public meeting regarding the proposed tax levy with September being a time for public input. The levy, if approved, would then be set in late October. The board also unanimously approved a bid from Schreiner Forestry, Inc. to log off the Town of Hoard School Forest in preparation for the maple syrup operation they will undertake. The Scheiner bid, the highest one they received, was for $17,967.60 to remove the logs and pulp from the 80 acre forest.
