Clark County Board Discusses Administrative Coordinator Position, Part 3

Friday, April 22nd, 2016 -- 10:27 AM

-The Clark County Board of Supervisors heard more information on the potential hiring of an Administrative Coordinator for the county.

Besides the legality of Clark County’s current method with that position, in which it’s given to the county chair, the County’s Corporation Counsel, Jake Brunette, found that other problems with the current method includes undefined authority, it causes employees to fill in gaps, there’s no clear division of authority and more. Jake’s proposal to the board for hiring a full time Administrative Coordinator was to appoint a current county employee to this position. He suggested that the position go to Clark County’s Personnel Manager Clint Langreck because he would be respected and fair to all county employees.

Jake’s proposal also included offering Clint $30,000 for wages and expenses and he stressed that this was his proposal and it didn’t come from any county committee or department. He stated that the position would evolve as time went on and by hiring this coordinator, it would make Clark County legally compliant. Jake also stated that there would be many benefits to having the Administrative Coordinator including there being a go to person, risk management and policy enforcement, long term planning, system accountability and more.
