Unemployment Rate Drops in Most Wisconsin Counties

-Unemployment rates dropped in most of Wisconsin’s counties for the month of March.

According to preliminary data from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, unemployment fell in 71 of the state's 72 counties in March. Clark County had an unemployment rate of 5.3% for March 2016 compared to February’s 6.1% and March of 2015’s 6%. For March, Clark County ranked 45 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties in terms of lowest unemployment rate compared to the 39th ranking it received in February of this year.

For our neighboring counties, Chippewa had an unemployment rate of 6.1%, Eau Claire had 4.3%, 6.1% for Jackson, 6.3% for Wood, Marathon had 4.5% and Taylor had 6.1%. Unemployment rates also decreases in most of Wisconsin’s largest cities. The state unemployment rate stood at 4.5% for March.
