Many Items Approved and Discussed at Owen City Council Meeting

-The Owen City Council approved several items at their meeting on Tuesday of last week.The council approved the hiring of Matt Bottlemy at $18/hour, pending physical and pre-employment drug test. They also voted to table a mutual aid item until the next meeting. During the public opinion portion of the meeting, a resident inquired about the alley between 4th and 5th Street. It was stated that it appears to be an abandoned alley and is only a utility easement, and will not be graveled for access to homes. The council did approve the Contract to Apply for the Clean Water Fund Program and Administration with MSA Professional Services and approved to lease the City Lot across from the City Shop to Intercon Energy Services.
The council also approved to purchase the Franklin 4-Station Free Standing Voter Privacy Booth from IS Elections for $849 plus $65 shipping and approved to have the Parks & Rec. Committee to hold a Public Hearing regarding a Goose round up by the USDA. The council approved to accept the recommendation from the Parks & Rec. Committee to re-name the Blue and Orange Park, located at Ash Street and E. 4th Street to The Kerry Park. Kerry Ingredients has been helping to maintain and fix up the park. Finally, the council approved to table the Clark County Economic Annual Meeting until the Organizational Meeting.
