New Manufacturing Facility in Marshfield

Sunday, April 17th, 2016 -- 6:33 AM

(Marshfield News Herald) -A new manufacturing facility will be built this year on Marshfield's southeast side, with a $200,000 contribution from the city.

The building will be at least 48,750 square feet and located in the Norwood Industrial Park. It will be used for architectural wood manufacturing and finishing, according to a development agreement the Marshfield City Council approved this week. Under that agreement, the city will contribute $200,000 toward construction and in return will be guaranteed property tax payments based on a minimum assessed value of $1.2 million for 10 years.

Construction of the entire facility will cost about $1.7 million, according to City Administrator Steve Barg. Barg declined to identify the manufacturing company interested in the property, but said the development would likely bring 25-30 employees to Marshfield who already work at the manufacturer's existing site outside of the city limits. The city’s agreement is with a development firm and not the manufacturer. Construction is set to be completed by Oct. 1.
