Presentation Begins Owen-Withee School Board Meeting

Thursday, April 14th, 2016 -- 8:28 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board began their meeting on Monday with a presentation from the district’s guidance counselor.

Morgan Mueller presented to the board on the topic of mental health services that Clark County is willing to offer their students in the school. Clark County will provide a counselor one day per week for counseling sessions. The only commitment from the school is to make a room available. With the rising number of mental health issues being experienced by students, this is a welcome service. Clark County will deal with the referral process, parental permission and the process of billing. This is a very worthwhile service that the district has been looking into for quite some time.

Getting into business matters, the board congratulated Rick Eloranta and Kim Amacher on winning the election last Tuesday and welcomed them to the board. Also, the board continued its review and discussion of the facilities audit conducted by CESA 10. A new document that shows the energy efficiency projects and the non-energy projects was reviewed. Discussion on the next steps in the process for utilizing the Act 32 exemption was held. Hiring a performance contractor to start the project review and bid process is the next step, which should be completed in May or June.
