33 People Died in Wisconsin Traffic Crashes in March

-In March, 33 people died in Wisconsin traffic crashes.

Traffic fatalities last month were seven fewer than March 2015 and equaled the five-year average for the month of March, according to preliminary statistics from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. In terms of traffic deaths, last month was tied for the seventh safest month of March since the end of World War II. The safest month of March occurred in 2010 with 23 fatalities, and the deadliest March was in 1970 with 99 fatalities.

As of the end of March, 116 people have been killed in crashes including 11 pedestrians, three bicyclists and two motorcycle operators. Traffic fatalities as of March 31 were 16 more than the same period last year and 18 more than the five-year average.
