Clark County's Health Rankings, Final

Wednesday, April 6th, 2016 -- 9:51 AM

-A new county health rankings report was recently released by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

All though there are clear opportunities for improvement, Clark County has assets and resources that can help it strive to be a healthier county. I spoke with the Director of the Clark County Health Department, Bob Leischow, and he ended our interview by talking about what helps make a healthy county.

"A healthy community is one where people have good physical, mental and emotional health. It's not just about the absence of illness. A healthy community promotes well-being and offers a high quality of life. A healthy community is one where members of the community have a sense of belonging and being needed, feel safe and secure in their environment and work together for the common betterment of the community."

"A healthy community is productive and is supported by employment opportunities. A healthy community is achieved by having a healthy equity, which means that every person has the opportunity to attain the highest level of health-by ensuring that all people have full and equal access to opportunities that enable them to lead healthy lives. We're all in this together, so let's aim to make Clark County the healthiest county in Wisconsin."

Once again, if you’d like to get involved with any programs/initiatives or learn more you can contact the Clark County Health Department by phone, e-mail, their website or their Facebook page.
