Highlights of April 2016 Election Results

-The State of Wisconsin was feeling the “Bern” during Tuesday’s elections.

Bernie Sanders won the democratic primary against his rival Hillary Clinton. With 99% of the precincts in, as of this morning, Sanders has 563,127 votes or 57% to Clinton’s 43% or 429,758 votes. On the Republican side, Ted Cruz walked away with a big victory over his closest rival and front runner, Donald Trump. With 99% of the precincts in, again, as of this morning, Cruz has 48% or 527,064 votes, Trump has 35% or 383,598 votes and Kasich had 14% or 153,514 votes. For the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Rebecca Bradley was elected to a full 10 year term over her opponent JoAnne Kloppenburg. With 99% of the precincts reporting, again, as of this morning, Bradley has 52% or 1,008,970 votes and Kloppenburg has 48% or 917,357 votes.

Clark County voted in line with the rest of the state for the most part. Sanders won Clark County with 1,942 votes compared to Clinton’s 1,475. On the Republican side, however, Donald Trump won Clark County with 2,823 votes over Cruz’s 2,660 and Kasich’s 372. A couple other local items of note, the Greenwood School District’s referendum passed with 574 votes for yes and 423 for no. The referendum is for $850,000 for the next school year and $750,000 for 4 years after that. The Spencer School District was not a fortunate here in Clark County. Their referendum wasn't favored by Clark County voters who defeated it by only 5 votes, 85 for yes and 90 for no. However, for Spencer residents voting in neighboring Marathon County, overall, the referendum did pass, 805 yes to 649 no.
