The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved a few resolutions at their meeting on Thursday

Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 -- 7:43 AM

The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved a few resolutions at their lengthy meeting on Thursday.

The board approved a resolution setting the salaries for the county’s Register of Deeds, County Clerk and County Treasurer. The board approved a similar resolution at their last meeting in March, but right after they approved it, Clark County Treasurer Kathy Bruegger decided that she will not be running for re-election this fall. Because a new person will be entering that position, the starting cost for 2017 was dropped to $54,000 and then increases up to $55,224.14 by 2020. When the board approved the resolution, 25 yes and 1 no, they also added wording to rescind the previous resolution they approved as a precaution.

One of the final items discussed involved the ongoing court case from the Town of Hoard against the county board in regards to fire protection. The county filed two appeals and lost one with the cost coming to just over $5,000, but the Clark County Corporation Counsel called that price just and fair. In the other, the Town of Hoard decided to reach out and negotiate a settlement with the county, which the Corporation Counsel suggested the county do. The county unanimously approved moving forward to end the matter.
