City of Marshfield Plants Trees Using Funds From American Transmission Company

Thursday, April 29th, 2021 -- 9:01 AM

The City of Marshfield Forester Mark Ryskiewicz and volunteers from the Marshfield Sunrise Rotary Club will be planting approximately 28 bare root trees ranging in height from 6 to 8 feet on Thursday, April 29, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the terrace near the Marshfield Fairgrounds off of S. Peach Ave.

The City received a $3,000 grant from American Transmission Co.’s Community Planting last year to fund the trees.  “We’re excited to enhance aesthetics of the area, and create a calming effect to encourage lower traffic speeds," said City Forester Mark Ryskiewicz.

The City recognizes trees and vegetation are among the features that make communities special places for residents and visitors. ATC’s Community Planting Program enables us to encourage and support communities to plant trees and vegetation that will beautify communities in a way that doesn’t compromise the safety and reliability of the electric transmission system.

ATC has awarded more than 265 communities and organizations with funds totaling nearly $500,000 since 2013, which formed in 2001 as the nation’s first multi-state transmission-only utility, American Transmission Co. is a Wisconsin-based company that owns and operates 9,921 miles of electric transmission lines and 577 substations in portions of Wisconsin.
