Reports at Neillsville City Council Meeting

Wednesday, January 27th, 2016 -- 8:16 AM

-It was a quiet night for the Neillsville City Council at their meeting on Tuesday.

With no old or new business during the Public Works portion of the meeting and the regular Common Council meeting, they heard several reports from other meetings held in the city. For Public Works, the usual amount of work was done in the city including equipment maintenance, park and cemetery maintenance, hauled brush and compost, burned the brush piled, picked up discarded Christmas trees, picked up branches, filled pot holes, snow and ice removal and more.

It was also mentioned that there were places in the city where the Public Works Department had to clean, scrape, salt and sand sidewalk because people didn't clean their sidewalk with recent snow fall. If the department has to do this, they will bill the owner with the totals coming to $130-$150. They also reviewed the minutes from the Personnel Committee meeting held before the last Common Council meeting. This was the meeting that approved several compensation and employment matters that were then approved during the regular Common Council meeting.

Finally, they heard reports from two Heritage Days Committee meetings held in January. The committee discussed sponsor ships, events, approved booking Wayland as the band for Friday night, Miss Neillsville Court and scholarships, tents and stages, bartenders and security, a potential Grand Marshall candidate, food and more.
