Man Wielding a Knife Shot by Eau Claire Police

(AP) -Eau Claire police say a man had threatened officers with a knife before he was shot and critically wounded by an officer.Police say the suspect was shot Sunday about 9 p.m. near Indianhead Food Service in Eau Claire. Police say three officers had found the man, who had an active arrest warrant, in the road. The man armed himself with a knife and ignored officers' orders to drop it.
The officers tried using pepper spray and a stun gun, but those weren't effective. One officer fired his gun, striking the suspect. The man was taken to a hospital where he is in critical but stable condition. No officers were hurt. The three officers are on standard administrative assignment. The state Division of Criminal Investigation will investigate the shooting.
