Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 -- 10:57 AM
-The Clark County UW-Extension, along with Lincoln, Marathon and Taylor County UW-Extension and AbbyBank, is bringing a Farm Succession and Estate Planning Workshop to the Abbotsford City Hall on February, 4th.I spoke with Nancy Vance, Family Living Agent, Richard Halopka, Crops and Soil Agent, and Melissa Kono, CNRED Agent, about the workshop. Melissa talked about the guest speakers at the event.
Melissa: "Joy Kirkpatrick is a specialist with the UW-Extension. She's at the Center for Dairy Profitability. This is a program that she developed and we asked her to come to Clark County and wanted this opportunity to be here. Also, the agents from Taylor County and Marathon County."
Richard: "They're all working with us. It's a cross county, cross program area collaboration."
Melissa: "Frank Friar, he's with the Beginning and Transitioning Farm Bureau Program. He's will with DATCAP."
They also talked about AbbyBank partnering with them to bring this program to the county and some funding that helped pay for it.
Melissa: "Yes, AbbyBank is partnering with us and we thank them for that."
Richard: "There is some grant funding. Joy Kirkpatrick actually has a grant through USDA on some of these that helps cover some of the travel costs and that type of thing. So, that was very beneficial as we were organizing this particular program."
Coming up on Thursday, Richard will make it clear that this workshop is just an initial step.
