(Jonathan Anderson, Marshfield News Herald) -Marshfield Clinic's proposed new hospital in Marshfield is one step closer to reality, despite objections from a presumptive competitor. The city's Plan Commission Tuesday night gave initial approval to Marshfield Clinic's request for special permits to build the $175 million, state-of-the-art hospital ? paving the way for the City Council to make a final decision on whether to approve the permits early next week.
The eight-story facility would have 202 beds and encompass 615,000 square feet on Marshfield Clinic's existing medical campus along Oak Avenue, according to tentative plans filed with the city. As many as 500 employees could work there.
