Owen-Withee School Board Makes Decision on Athletics and PhyEd. Credit

Thursday, January 14th, 2016 -- 9:31 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board ended a discussion on students receiving a PhyEd. credit if they're in athletics at their meeting on Monday.

This discussion has covered three months of board meetings. The board agreed that the topic had been discussed enough and that no change to the high school graduation requirements would be made at this time. The board also heard an update on the school forest in the Town of Hoard and the maple syrup project that is planned. Bids have been slow to come in due to the very warm winter we've been having. Loggers are hesitant to bid the job because it is small and they may not be able to commit to getting it completed this winter. Two bids have been received and will be reviewed in the near future.

Finally, the board, again, discussed the facilities report that was created by CESA 10. A spreadsheet was created to show the impact a Fund 32 levy would have on the mil rate for the district. Each $100,000 of levy would add $.41 to the mil rate. The Board spent considerable time discussing the issue the district has with parents and buses loading and unloading students in the same area. A number of solutions were discussed. The Buildings and Grounds committee will meet on Friday, January 15 to look for further solutions.
