Wednesday, January 13th, 2016 -- 10:43 AM
-The Neillsville City Council approved several employment matters at their 1st meeting in 2016 on Tuesday night. The board approved the hiring of Cara Hart as Neillsville's new Library Director. She will begin on January 18th and her wage will be $18.00 per hour, which the council also approved. The Library Board did six phone interviews and then interviewed three people in person and they said all the candidates were highly qualified, but they felt Cara would be the best fit for the library.
The council also approved an increase in the Public Works Operator's hourly wage and approved a $20 a month stipend for the Director of Public Works and Public Works Department Foreman. The stipend was approved because many of the employees use their own cell phones to contact one another, the city or others in their daily tasks. The wage increase was approved for the employee because he recently completed some training. All of these items were approved during a Personnel Committee Meeting held before the Common Council Meeting on Tuesday.
