16 Lincoln Hills Employees Put On Paid Leave

Sunday, January 10th, 2016 -- 9:51 AM

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections has disclosed that 16 employees at the state's secure facility for young offenders have been put on paid leave during an investigation into excessive use of force.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that state and federal authorities are also investigating allegations the Lincoln Hills School workers had improper relationships with inmates. The agency would not name the Lincoln Hills employees who are on paid leave, or say how much they have been paid or how long they have been on leave, because the investigations are ongoing.

Department spokeswoman Joy Staab says two of the 16 workers have resigned. The investigation became public last month but has been going on for a year. Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel said it could continue for another year.
