Wisconsin Egg Production Still Down From A Year Ago

Wisconsin egg production last month totaled 122 million eggs, up 10 percent from last month, but still down two percent from last year.

According to Wisconsin Ag Connection, the average number of all layers on hand during October was 5.04 million, up six percent from last month, but down three percent from last year. Eggs per 100 layers for the month of October were 2,419 in Wisconsin, up four percent from last month, and two percent higher than last year.

Nationally, egg production totaled 7.79 billion during October, down nine percent from last year. The total number of layers averaged 336 million, down seven percent from 2014. October egg production per 100 layers was 2,317 eggs, also down two percent from last October.
