Public Works Report at Neillsville City Council Meeting

Friday, October 30th, 2015 -- 8:15 AM

-The Neillsville City Council heard the Public Works report at their meeting on Tuesday.

The usual amount of work was done in the city including equipment maintenance, park and cemetery maintenance, hauling brush and compost, opening and cleaning storm drains, picking up leaves, winterizing the park bathrooms and more.

The department also changed the parking signs on East 5th Street and it was mentioned that the airport project is done; they just need to paint the lines. The department has also had people asking them to open up Armory Alley for the garbage trucks, but the alley will remain closed because the trucks cause a lot of damage to the road and it isn't in the budget to fix.

Some people have also asked to have the crab apple trees on West 5th Street removed. The department doesn't plan on doing that, but if a resident will remove the tree and plant a new tree in its place, paid for out of the owner's pocket, they may allow it. However, the owner needs to get permission first. The department won't let a healthy tree be cut down.

Finally, it was mentioned that they initial phases in putting the bar screen in at the sewer plant has begun, they're working on patching various streets and a tree survey has been completed.
