Several Items Approved at Neillsville City Council Meeting

Thursday, October 29th, 2015 -- 10:46 AM

-After a couple longer and heated Common Council meetings for the City of Neillsville, their meeting on Tuesday was relatively quiet.

The council approved an Interim Library Director as the current director, Jo Ann Gustavson, resigned her position. Kathy Wagner was selected as the Interim Director. The Council also accepted Jo Ann's resignation.

The council also disallowed a request, as suggested by their insurance company, for a trip and fall claim filed by a Neillsville resident. The insurance company stated that the city didn't have prior notice to what caused the trip and fall and therefore, they had no way to prevent it.

Finally, the council approved being a part of the updated 2015 Multi-Hazardous Mitigation Plan. This is required by FEMA and it needs to be updated every 5 years. It gives the City of Neillsville access to potential mitigation dollars that they could use for projects. Clark County has been very successful with these dollars in the past, receiving almost $1.1 million in various grants.
