Marshfield Clinic and Aspirus Canceling Collaboration with Hospitals in Eau Claire and Wisconsin Rapids

(AP) -Marshfield Clinic and Aspirus are scrapping plans to jointly operate hospitals in Wisconsin Rapids and Eau Claire.It was just six months ago that the health care providers announced the partnership. Aspirus spokesman Andy Napgezek says the industry is changing dramatically, so they've decided to focus on "internal initiatives."
News-Herald Media reports Marshfield Clinic and Aspirus had agreed in April on a plan to buy or build a hospital in Eau Claire, and for Marshfield Clinic to become minority owner of Aspirus Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. Marshfield Clinic executive Dan Ramsey says they still have interest in the Eau Claire market, but have their hands full right now.
