Memorial Medical Center and Marshfield Clinic Collaborating to Provide Oncology Specialist, Part 1

-Memorial Medical Center will be offering more services for those in need of an oncology specialist.Memorial Medical Center will be collaborating with Marshfield Clinic to provide oncology specialist hear in Neillsville. MMC's CEO, Ryan Neville, explained why this came about.
"At Memorial Medical Center, we continue to have the fortunate ability to grow our primary care. Our primary care providers are up to 9. We hope to go to 10 or 11 primary care providers in 2016. And a lot of this has to do with our continued growth through our strategic planning. We were just going over some numbers from our improvements from comparison to last year and our inpatient volume is up 23%, our clinic volume is 7%, our urgent care and E.R. is up 62% and our surgery volume is up 18%. So, we continue to see, in many areas, a double digit climb in volume."
"And so as we are excited about the growth and our overall volumes; what we do realize is that the majority of our patients not only need primary care, but they also need specialty care. So, most patients at Memorial Medical Center might have a primary care doctor here; they might have a specialist either in the Eau Claire market, or Black River market or the Marshfield market. And our goal now is to provide specialty care local."
"So, a few models we've identified in order to provide specialty care local is one, are there an specialist that we could begin to employ on a part time basis? And we continue to do that with the recent hiring of Dr. LoRusso who's a gynecologist out of the Eau Claire area. And also, another model of doing this is to collaborate, we call it our collaboration model, with another system that has specialist. And so, as we utilize the Marshfield Clinic and as we've done our analysis, a lot of our patients utilize the Marshfield Clinic as a specialty care location."
