-Governor Scott Walker toured Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield on Tuesday to highlight their Project SEARCH partnership.Project SEARCH is a one-year transition program that provides training and education to young adults, ages 18-25, with disabilities. Founded over 100 years ago by the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother, Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital provides health care to an ever-increasing service area in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. It remains Wisconsin's only major rural referral medical center.
There are currently 12 students enrolled in the Project SEARCH program at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital. The Project SEARCH program began in 2011. Five days a week, the Project SEARCH students learn in both a classroom setting and a hands-on work environment. For the duration of their Project SEARCH program, students participate in 10-week internship rotations where they receive real-life work experience that provides them with the skills they need to obtain a job and succeed in Wisconsin's workforce upon their graduation.
