Midwest's Largest Hardware and Farm Supply Companies May Soon Be Up for Sale

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -One of the Midwest's largest hardware and farm supply companies may soon be up for sale.Mills Fleet Farm has announced it is taking the steps to sell its chain of stores to another firm or investor group. The Brainerd, Minnesota-based Fleet Farm has 36 store locations in four states and employs about 6,000 people. Stewart Mills III says the move is a necessary step if the company wants to grow in the future.
Mills said the company's warehouse and distribution system are also in need to significant upgrades. With the proper modernization, Fleet Farm could potentially add three or four stores each year as part of its growth plan. If a sale were to take place, the Mills Automotive Group, which has 12 locations, would not part of the transaction.
