Clark County Board of Supervisors Hears 2016 Budget Report

Tuesday, October 6th, 2015 -- 10:53 AM

-The Clark County Board of Supervisors heard a presentation on the county's 2016 budget at their meeting last week.

The county Finance Committee has a long list of concerns to take into account when figuring the budget including the county's communication project, the increase cost of road construction, employee health insurance and pay and the levy limits put in place by the state. These limits lead to tighter and tighter budgets for counties and cities.

For 2016, Clark County is looking at a Tax Levy of $14,740,341 which is a $120,470 increase over last year. This comes to a tax rate of 8.06 compared to last year's 8.09. This would lead to a $3 decrease on $100,000 home in the county.

Some other highlights from the budget include the number of employees has decreased by 65 full time employees and 4 part time since 2001, $300,000 having to be transferred from the General Fund for bridges and culverts due to the flooding on County Highway M and 14 of the 29 departments in the county were able to reduce their levy for the 2016 budget year.
