-The Neillsville Fire Department responded to a report of a chimney fire Sunday evening. The call came in just after 4:20pm in the afternoon on Sunday. It was a report of a chimney and possible structure fire at a home at W5684 County Highway H in the Township of Weston, which was just north of Christie around the County Highway H and Highway 73 intersection.
The owner had lit the furnace of the home that day and the chimney got extremely hot causing a fire in basement and main floor area. There was about a 4 foot section of floor damaged. The owner and a neighbor used a fire extinguisher and water to keep the fire at bay.
The department was on scene for an hour and a half and there were no injuries. They did have assistance from the Clark County Sheriff's Department and the Greenwood Fire Department for water. Greenwood was on scene about 20 minutes and when Neillsville realized they wouldn't need the water, Greenwood then left.
