Greenwood School Board and Residents Set Tax Levy at Annual Meeting

-The Greenwood School Board held their annual meeting on Wednesday of last week.The board and community members present authorized a tax levy of $2,134,693 for the General Fund, a tax levy of $ 491,366 for debt retirement, and a tax levy of $10,000 for the Community Service Fund. As in the past, once the state aid is certified in October, the district may need to adjust the levy once this information is announced.
They also authorized salaries of the school board members. The Board President will receive $1,620 and all other members will receive $1,320 annually and $50 per special meeting. They increased reimbursements for a school board member on a per diem basis from $100 to $125 as well.
Finally, they authorized the sale of obsolete school district property, authorized the board to acquire real estate through purchase or condemnation, authorized the sale of school property and set the 2016 Annual Meeting for September 26, 2016 at 7:30 PM.
