Neillsville Man Sentenced for Sexual Assault and Incest

-A Neillsville man charged with sexual assault and incest was sentenced for the crime in Clark County Court on Wednesday.According to the criminal complaints for two separate cases, the 66-year-old man is accused of inappropriately touching young members of his own family. One incident occurred back in 2007 while another occurred in 2013. The man claimed that what he did was not intended to be sexual and he was just hugging the victims.
The 66-year-old has two cases against him. In one, he's charged with two counts of 2nd degree sexual assault of a child and two counts of incest with child. In the other, he's charged with 4th degree sexual assault and incest with a child. During a plea hearing in July, in one case, the man entered a guilty plea to 4th degree sexual assault of a child and the incest with a child charge was dismissed and read in. In the other case, he entered a guilty plea to 2nd degree sexual assault of a child and incest with a child while another count of both charges was dismissed and read in.
The Clark County District Attorney asked for 10 years in prison with 4 years extended supervision, the defense attorney asked for an imposed and stayed sentenced of 5 years in prison and 1 year extended supervision, but only if he was unsuccessful in completing the 10 years' probation she asked for. In the end, the judge sentenced him to 8 years in prison with 5 years of extended supervision. He's also not allowed to have contact with the victims, no contact with anyone under 18, he must register as a sex offender and he must undergo any necessary counseling and treatment.
