Granton 2nd Graders Learn About Seeing Eye Dogs

Thursday, April 15th, 2021 -- 12:00 PM

During Guided Reading for the 2ng Graders at Granton, one of the groups read "Buddy, The Seeing Eye Dog" with Mrs. Auman.

After reading the book, they were given the opportunity to write letters to The Seeing Eye. Upon receiving letters back, Mrs. Auman set up a zoom meeting with a gentleman who works at The Seeing Eye, a place that trains sight dogs, in New Jersey. The other day, the Second Graders got to learn more about what it takes to train sight dogs and why they are so important.

They learned that the dogs are trained to help keep people with vision loss safe and give them independence. The kiddos really enjoyed the presentation and would like to give Mrs.Auman a big thank you for setting this up.
