Clark County Board of Supervisors Approves a Resolution Increasing Payment in Lieu of Taxes for County Forest Lands

Friday, April 24th, 2015 -- 10:48 AM

-The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved several resolutions at their meeting on Wednesday evening.

The first resolution was increasing the payment in lieu of taxes for county forest lands from $.30 to $1 per acre. The $.30 amount was established back in 1989 and hasn't increased in the past 25 years. The board approved increasing the amount as the payments to town that have these forest lands helps maintain the roads to access them. The increase will cause the county to pay $93,979 annually, but sufficient funds are available for the increase.

The county also approved a resolution asking Governor Walker and the state legislator to restore funding to the county forest administration grant program. Governor Walker's budget has removed the grant funding completely. If this occurs, Clark County will see a reduction in the level of service provided for the public's benefit.
