Neillsville City Council Public Works Report

Sunday, April 19th, 2015 -- 6:52 AM

The Neillsville City Council heard the public works report before their meeting on Tuesday.

The usual amount of work had been done in the city the past couple weeks including snow and ice removal, street sweeping, maintenance to the parks and equipment, picking up branches, hauling brush and compost, straightened signs, worked on street lighting and more.
Some other important items Public Works Director Dave Flynn mentioned including street sweeping. They'll do more of the side streets when they know the ground is set up for it. They're also having problems with their sewer jetter. They've spent $1,000 on parts so far and they may need to spend an additional $5,000 for a new one if it's beyond repair.

Also, they have had blades break of the sewer's mixing basin because of "rags" being flushed into the system. Dave said they've spent $20,000 on keeping the basin going because of "rags" being flushed down. They're going to open bids for their bar screen soon to help with that issue.
Finally, they are opening bids soon for new lift stations. The cost is expected to be $14,000 to $20,000, but that's under the replacement fund. They're going to be doing water main flushing at the end of April and beginning of May and a Verizon Tower may be going up at the Clark County Fairgrounds.
