Medford Man Sentenced for Causing Standoff with Taylor County Authorities

-A Medford man was sentenced in Taylor County Court on Tuesday for causing a standoff with the Taylor County Sheriff's Department and multiple other agencies.At the end of January 2014, a man entered a residence and fired a weapon through a window. After authorities arrived, a one hour standoff ensued. Authorities were able to make contact with the man, identified as Timothy Phillips. He said he was going to commit suicide by cop. Finally, authorities persuaded him to come out of the home, drop the weapon and surrender.
Phillips entered a guilty plea to a charge of second degree recklessly endangering safety on Tuesday. A charge of resisting an officer, operating a firearm while intoxicated and disorderly conduct were dismissed and read in. Phillips was sentenced to 60 days in jail and 3 years' probation.
