Election Day Today

Tuesday, April 7th, 2015 -- 10:14 AM

-Today is Election Day in Wisconsin.

One of the bigger items on the ballot is the question about the selection of Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. The question asks if an amendment should be made to the constitution on the selection process. Currently, the longest serving member is automatically selected as Chief Justice, but the change would have the individual selected for a two year term by the other justices serving.

The other races on the ballot are local races for city councils, school boards, and township and village boards. Some highlights include the City of Loyal has 3 members running for the 2nd alderman district and only two will be selected. They include Ralph Schmitt, Scott Zoellner and Jim McBride. The City of Owen has a mayor's race happening with Thomas Nelson facing Patrick Pfeffer. The Greenwood School Board has a race between two candidates for two seats including Jerome Krempasky against Pam Delo for Area 3 and Roger Sonnentag against Dean Lindner in Area 5.

There is also a race between six candidates for three seats on the Marshfield School Board, two candidates are battling for the same seat on the Spencer School Board, the Stanley-Boyd School District has two candidates racing for the same seat and there are four candidates racing for two open seats on the Thorp School District. The majority of the races are uncontested.
