The department responded to 3 calls on Saturday. The first call came in just after 11am. It was a report of a grass fire at W5710 Moonlite Road in in the Township of Pine Valley just north of the city limits. The owner had been burning a brush pile, it got out of control and burned 1.5 acres. The department was on scene for an hour and a half, there were no injuries on their part and they received no mutual aid, but they did receive assistance from the Neillsville Police Department.

The 2nd call came in just before 1pm. It was a report of another grass fire at N2073 Highway 95 in the Township of Levis. The owner had been burning in a burn barrel, the fire got out of the barrel and burned 5 acres. The department did receive aid from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Clark County Sheriff's Department. They had no injuries on their part and they were on scene for an hour and a half.

The 3rd call came in just after 2:30. This fire was reported in the Township of Seif on Resewood Avenue. The department was cancelled in route, but they still sent one engine. A neighbor called in the fire burning in a burn barrel. It hadn't escaped, but the department did extinguish the flames.

Neillsville Fire Chief Matt Meyer would like to remind Neillsville residents that if you're going to burn, be aware of the wind.
