Bitter Cold Temperatures All Week
Monday, January 5th, 2015 -- 9:14 AM
-2015 is starting out just as 2014 did: very cold.Though temperatures won't reach some of the lows that were hit in January of 2014, which included temperatures around the -50 below zero mark with wind chills, we will see temperatures in the teens below zero today with wind chills reaching the -25 to -30 this morning and not improving much throughout the day. Our maximum high today is only expected to be around zero.
The rest of the week is not expected to improve much as another blast of frigid air will move in on Tuesday with winds picking up. Highs on Tuesday are only expected to reach the low single digits. Wednesday will start especially frigid with low temps around -15 to -20 below zero and wind chills hovering around -45 below zero.
By Thursday, we'll still have single digit temperatures for a high, but we could see some snow and Friday will see another blast of arctic air with temperatures reaching into the low single digits. By Saturday and Sunday, we're expected to hit double digits for temperatures as the cold air starts to move out.
Many Wisconsin counties are under Wind Chill Advisories or Warnings between today and the rest of the week, but on the positive side, we're expected to see a lot of sun this week, despite the cold.
