Clark County Healthcare Center Renamed

Saturday, December 20th, 2014 -- 9:23 AM

The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved changing the name and address of the Clark County Healthcare Center in Owen.

The address change would be from W4266 State Road 29 in Owen to W4266 County Highway X in Owen as the facility is located on Highway X and not directly on Highway 29.

The new name will be the Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center. The reason behind this is because many people don't realize all the services the center offers which include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. The center is hoping that the name change will bring more people to the facility and give a better description of what they do.

It has been estimated that bringing in 10 more patients to the facility could create $1.5 million in growth and a $1 million net. The board also approved making the name change to all of the county committees, commissions and more. There was initially a $10,000 cost associated with the name change because of having to change signage, but due to some cost effective measures being taken, that amount was reduced to just over $1,800.

The last item approved by the board was sending a letter of opposition to Madison about taking funding from the Wisconsin Court System. Many counties in the state are doing this
