Clark County Board of Supervisors Approves Wage Increase for County Employees

Friday, December 19th, 2014 -- 8:46 AM

-The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved a wage increase for county employees at their meeting on Tuesday.

The board approved an increase with the Courthouse Employees, the Social Workers, Professionals, Paraprofessionals, Highway Employees, Teamster Employees and they approved the wage increase for the non-represented employees as well as a contract with the Wisconsin Professional Police Association.

The different groups will receive a .5% increase on January 11th and a .75% increase on July 12th. One board member stated that she couldn't support any of these because she felt that the employees should have received a dollar amount rather than a percentage. She said the dollar amount would have been fairer and a percentage increase for county employees making minimum wage will hardly amount to anything.

A member of the Finance Committee explained that they looked at that option, but found a percentage increase would be more cost effective for the county. In the end, resolutions 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65 and 66 were all approved with yes votes ranging from 18 to 22 and no votes ranging from 7 to 11.
