Marshfield Man Pleads Guilty to Child Abuse

Thursday, December 18th, 2014 -- 8:20 AM

-A Marshfield man was found guilty of child abuse in Wood County Court on Wednesday.

According to court records, an investigation began into an incident, involving Sebastian Suchomel and his child, on October 24th of 2013 after the 11-week-old was taken to the doctor with multiple fractures.

The child had two fractures to its left arm, three fractured ribs, and a possible fracture to its leg. A doctor said these types of injuries to the limbs is consistent with constant yanking or pulling being done to them. The injuries to the ribs are consistent with the chest being squeezed or pushed to tightly.

Suchomel did admit that the baby was crying for a long period of time, he lost control, grabbed the infant's arm and leg and flipped him over. When he did, he said he heard a pop and the baby's arm went limp.

Suchomel had two counts of child abuse filed against him. He pleaded guilty to one and the second was dismissed, but read into the record. Suchomel will be sentenced in February.
