Former Owner of Rustic Mill Tavern Sentenced for Arson

-The former owner of the Rustic Mill Tavern was sentenced for arson in Jackson County Court on Wednesday.Back in 2011, 42-year-old Brian Adkins was accused of hiring his son, Tyler Keck, and employee, Kyle Rott, to burn down the Rustic Mill Tavern, which he owned, in order to collect the insurance money. Adkins was also accused of collecting and failing to pay state and county sales taxes. Adkins' debt, including some of his spouses, was said to be nearly $1 million.
After a jury trial, Adkins was found guilty of arson, but found not guilty of obstructing an officer and making a fraudulent insurance claim. Adkins was sentenced to 2 years in prison and 15 years of extended supervision. A restitution hearing is expected at a later date.
For the other two involved, Rott will be sentenced on the 19th of this month for his part in the crime. Tyler Keck had the charges against him dropped due to testimony he gave in court.
